Divorce is typically a messy process as two people try to separate their lives from one another. Often decisions such as who gets what and which parent should be the primary custodian of a child can become incredibly emotionally charged decisions.

A recent event is an example of how something like visitation issues can lead to a tragedy. A young teacher was shot to death by her estranged husband, while their young daughter was nearby. The two had separated and were in the middle of a somewhat nasty divorce. They were fighting over whether the husband should have unsupervised visitation; originally he had been awarded supervised visitation.

The couple had been married in 2004, but the article does not give a clear explanation as to why the two had decided to separate. They were in the middle of determining terms for a child support agreement.

According to the article, the husband went to the preschool where the wife worked. He had purchased a gun earlier that week and loaded it before entering the building. Two children in the neighborhood saw him before he climbed over the fence and went into the locked-down building. He found his wife in the bathroom and shot her in front of several little children. He was arrested by police and charged with first-degree murder.

While this tragedy may seem like an extreme example of how stressful divorce and custody proceedings can be, it just shows how important support can be. There are a lot of challenges, both emotionally and financially, that a couple experiences after choosing to separate. It can be beneficial to have someone who can guide the couple through the complicated and often frustrating divorce proceedings.
