It is not easy arriving at the decision to separate. For many couples, it means not only choosing to end a marriage; it also means figuring out how the decision affects their children, their assets, and their futures. While divorce may be the more well-known option, Ohio couples can also consider dissolution of marriage. Under certain circumstances, this can be a more effective solution.

But how do couples find themselves in the middle of dissolving a marriage? While there are a number of different factors that can influence that decision, there is one particular factor that has been appearing more often: social media.

One man recalls how he and his wife gradually grew apart, mentioning the popular social networking site Facebook as part of the reason why his wife began a secret relationship with an old boyfriend. What started as a seemingly innocent online connection grew into messages and texts exchanged between his ex-wife and her old flame.

In more and more cases, information from social media has been used in divorce and dissolution cases for strategy purposes. Even if information is considered private, there are ways to access that information. Evidence from these types of website can be used to negotiate settlements and reach solutions.

Regardless of why a couple chooses to legally separate, in each case there are a number of considerations. If the couple has children, a solution has to be reached regarding child support and child custody. There is also the emotional impact that a separation can have on those involved.

When trying to work out these arrangements, it is often beneficial to have someone who understands the process go through the decisions with you. The process can be complex; seeking advice can only result in a more effective solution.
