Sometimes issues between a former couple can make its way into the court system. For example, what does a father do when he believes he should not have to pay child support?
One man argued that he shouldn't have to pay child support to his former girlfriend because she stole his sperm and had it artificially inseminated without his knowledge or permission. His ex-girlfriend gave birth to a set of twins after their relationship ended. She believes that he is just trying to get out of the financial responsibilities as the twins' father.
According to the man, he was the victim in the situation. He claims that while they were dating, his ex-girlfriend would offer to throw away the used condoms but instead would take them to the fertility clinic. He was unaware that this was happening until he received a receipt from the clinic.
This is far different from the account his former girlfriend gives. According to her, he was aware of the entire process, even helping her inject herself with hormones and preparing for other treatments. She denies ever taking a condom from him and that the father simply does not want to pay.
The documents filled out and on record at the fertility clinic are also disputed. The man claims that his ex-girlfriend filled out all the paperwork and that the clinic should have required his permission. However the clinic stated that all procedures were followed and that they have in their records signed consent forms from the father.
Is the man just trying to get out of paying child support or did his former girlfriend go to a fertility center without his knowledge? Only as the case progresses will this question hopefully get answered.
